As the Governor of Enugu State formally declares for APC today, a political grassroots mass mobilisation group that calls itself, “We-no-go-gree movement”, has sprang up in Enugu in protest against the alleged involvement of Enugu Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, in the political manipulation that led to the resignation of the former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, calling it a political witch hunt and vowing to resist the Governor’s take over of the APC in Enugu.
In a release sent to media houses, the group led by Ukadike Unuoha, accused the governor of Enugu State, as the direct mastermind of Chief Nnaji’s recent political travails with the collusion of the VC of UNN, Professor Simon Uchenna Ortuanya.
The group decried the arm twisting political style of Governor Mbah, saying “it’s not doing Enugu any good”, rather it is destroying the unity of the state and pulling it backwards.
“It is bad omen that Mbah’s entry into our great party will lead to Enugu losing its membership of the Federal Executive Council of Nigeria, even if it’s temporary; and the threatened mass exodus from the party by some members”, the group said.
The Coordinator of the group said they will take their grievances to Mr. President in Abuja and the leadership of the APC because if they do not act immediately to unite the party and give honour to whom is due, they will be sending wrong signals
“Chief Uche Nnaji brought APC to Enugu State and built it up from the scratch with the support of a few of us and now that the party has become the beautiful bride, they have ganged up to push him and us aside, we no gree”, the statement said
“Monkey no go dey work and baboon go come chop. We must not only resist this take over, we must stop it. We are appealing to the leadership of our great party and our ever-listening president and leader of the party, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, to please act and save APC from crumbling”, he added.
“Chief Nnaji must not be sacrificed on the altar of Dr. Mbah’s membership of the party. While we welcome Dr. Mbah and whoever he is bringing, Nnaji remains our leader and must be accorded the respect he deserves in the party”, he said.
