The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has called on traditional rulers in Kano State to actively engage men in efforts to end Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in their communities.
The call was made on Monday when the organisation, through its Male Feminist Network Project, visited the Rano Emirate Council as part of its ongoing campaign to engage male allies in the fight against GBV.

CITAD urged traditional leaders to use their influence and platforms to speak out against gender-based violence and promote the active participation of men in tackling the menace.
Responding, the Emir of Rano, Alhaji Dr. Muhammad Isah Umaru, commended CITAD for the initiative, describing it as both timely and necessary.
He assured that the emirate would support the campaign and intensify awareness across communities, stressing that ending gender-based violence requires collective effort and sustained advocacy.
The Emir also reiterated the council’s commitment to promoting respect, dignity, and protection for women and girls across the emirate.
